An Innovative Exhibit that Digs into NASCAR’s Southern Roots

Every part of our daily lives is impacted, directly or indirectly, by plants. From everyday products to the building of societies, plants shape our interactions with other people. Our connection with plants is vast from the darkness of human conflict (for example, the Banana Wars of the early 20th century), to the fun side of life (think fashion, like Hawaiian shirts).

Plants surround us, and we rely on them more than you think.

Through this exhibit you will be taken on an unexpected journey exploring the All-American culture and phenomenon of NASCAR through the lens of the plant world.

What in the world do plants have to do with racing, you ask? Well, it started with corn, but through the years the cultural interplay of moonshine, tobacco and hemp have played key roles.
